Do you ever feel lost or not quite sure which direction you should be taking? Of course you do! It is the very nature of humans to be curious and to find out what else there is out there. Some people are relentless in their search for something better, whilst some just hone in on the one thing that is most important to them and then they go for it. Doing so often means making some kind of sacrifice. It may be relationships that take a back seat because you decide to spend the lions share of your time working or it may be fun and recreation that don't get any attention. Whilst coaching for the most part, is an holistic process, there are times when working with clients reveals a different kind of focus is needed.
In the western world we are bombarded daily by advertising. London is undoubtedly a material metropolis. Every opportunity to advertise is taken and although you may not realise it, driving past certain billboard adverts each day have a powerful and subliminal effect on your unconscious mind.
You can steer your own course by feeding your mind with daily positive and aspirational messages about your goals and ambitions. Making something visual that is appealing and has you in it, will give your subconscious minds a powerful set of instructions. For those of you who are familiar with 'The Secret' you will know what I am talking about. A lot of my more cerebral - left brain clients struggle a bit with putting their creative right brain to work on making pictures of things that they want. Make your own vision compelling - add colour, words, characters, symbols and put it somewhere very visible. Chart your course with a pictorial representation of a future that excites you. It does not matter that you don't know 'how' you are going to get it, only the 'what' is important right now. To avoid distraction, install you own internal navigation aids so that when you are tempted to go off course, you have something to guide you to where you really want to be..........or you can just hire a coach! Enjoy the journey and remember to steer the course.
