The best thing about the past is that it is over...........especially events that were traumatic or painful. My 9 days with Dr Richard Bandler reminded me of the futility of psychotherapists who insist on making their clients re-live their misery over and over again. Clients who have been in therapy for years understand their problem really clearly, yet they are no further forward in their recovery. I wonder why that is! I was prompted to include this in my blog today as I spoke to a client today who described a perfectly good reason for the condition she has, yet she has been seeing a psychotherapist of a number of years who has all but convinced her that her problem must relate to her relationship with her mother. I think that 'psycho the rapists' should come with a health warning, a bit like the ones you find on cigarette packets that say "SMOKING KILLS". Maybe their health warning should say "prepare to understand why you feel so bad and don't expect to feel better any time soon". I am sure that not all Psycho the rapists are as bad, there may be some who have leaned NLP an have discovered that there is a much easier and effective way to move people on from bad feelings and things that happened in the past, and oh, did I mention....................it can happen QUICKLY. Ask yourself the question, "do I want to understand my problem or do I want to be free from it?"
