So now you have a set of compelling goals for the year ahead, you are going to need to take regular and consistent action to make sure that your garden grows just the way you want it to. Remember that it is important that you are inspired by your goals and that they are fun. Many clients that I work with tend to be very left brain. The left brain deals with logical information. Learning to use the right brain for creative thought is an important balance to strike. Here are some ideas about how you can take the SMART statements from yesterdays blog and translate them into something visual.
I have talked about vision boards in a previous blog and if you have seen or read 'The Secret' you will already be familiar with this concept. Visual cues are tremendously powerful things to instruct your subconscious to succeed. The important thing to remember when you put together your own vision board is to include yourself in whatever picture you attach to it. Imagine taking the statement: - "I am so happy and grateful now that I have an amazing relationship with my body and am fully committed to eating only the healthiest foods. I find it incredibly easy to make smart choices." You might choose a picture of healthy food and put a picture of yourself looking healthy in the middle of it, with the affirmation underneath.
It is entirely up to you how you do it. You might want to start off with just one or two and keep them on your desk at work. You can also make them into wallpaper for your computer desktop, in fact anywhere, where you will look at these things regularly and start to programme your mind for success.
You can of course still put the left - logic side of your brain to good use as you will need to start planning activities into your diary and to-do lists. For each of your goals, you are going to need to 'protect' time in your diary/calendar so that you are clear about when activities will take place. Remember that when you are planning these activities in, you need to have a degree of flexibility to manage the unexpected. Building in contingency to any plan is essential. So for each of the goals, go ahead and start planning in time slots and actions to support your objectives. Consider who else needs to know about this too. Who else will you need to involve? What will you need to do more of, less of, or drop completely in order to accommodate these new activities? Make daily 'To-Do' lists and then enjoy the satisfaction of being able to tick off what you have achieved at the end of each day, and most important - the things that have not been done, carry them over to your list for the following day. It is a wonderfully fulfilling and success is addictive! You have everything to gain. Make this year really count and make sure you get what you really want!
