What Makes Us Great

Do you ever stop to ask yourself that question?  It is not an open invitation for an over inflated ego trip, it is a very useful process to go through when you are being tough on yourself.  If your self esteem has taken a knock or you are just feeling vulnerable this is something for you to do.

Take a look back on the chapters of your personal history and pause a while at the pages where you have clearly been able to pull a rabbit out of a hat.  The times when you might have surprised yourself and others at your ability to get something handled or moving or complete.  These will be the times when you have tapped into a different level of consciousness to achieve something.  Having spent the last 2 years coordinating care resources for a mum who is mentally ill, I recently reflected on the times when I tapped into inspiration that allowed me to challenge what I was being told.  I asked searching questions and made unpopular demands of the resources that were supporting her to get what I considered, was best for her.  For the most part, those insights and inspirations turned into actions that paid off.  

What makes you great?  What do other people remind you of that makes you great?  Where have you made a contribution; professionally or personally that has been driven by inspired thought?  When have you been able to take control of situations that other people seemingly can't or don't want to handle?  When you think back to those times - remind yourself of just how very resourceful you are. 

Our ability to achieve the seemingly impossible or improbable is really what makes us great.  The passion we put into things and the motivation is also what makes us great.  Take a moment to remind yourself what makes you great.  Write it down somewhere so that whenever you need to be reminded of your greatness, you can access it.  This will help you to push through other challenges with a certain 'state of mind' the one that makes you great and makes things happen.
